AFSCME - Juneteenth

NOTICE OF POTENTIAL ELIGIBILITY FOR COMPENSATION

 

On October 10, 2025, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, Local 2229, Council 36 ("AFSCME") and the ABC Unified School District ("District”) reached an agreement regarding the Juneteenth Holiday for the time period of 2021-2022. Pursuant to the terms of the Agreement, the District is providing this notice to AFSCME employees that they may be eligible for compensation pursuant to the Agreement. Compensation to Eligible Employees shall be in the form of a credit for paid vacation time off in an amount equal to the number of hours actually worked on June 18, 2021, and June 20, 2022. “Eligible Employees” shall include current AFSCME bargaining unit members as of October 10, 2025, who:

 

  • were required to and actually worked on or took paid leave Friday, June 18, 2021, and were in paid status during any portion of the day before or the day after June 18, 2021; and/or
  • were required to and actually worked or took paid leave on Monday, June 20, 2022, and were in paid status during any portion of the day before or the day after June 20, 2022.

 

Process for Submitting Claims

 

To make a claim for compensation under the agreement, you must complete and return the attached Claim Form within 60 days from the date of this notice. The deadline to submit your Claim is December 19, 2025. 

 

The District will provide a Determination on your Claim no later than April 30, 2026, along with: (1) a Compensation Notice and Employee Waiver; and (2) a Dispute Form and Resolution Agreement. Further information concerning the Employee Waiver and the dispute resolution process will be provided along with the Determination on your Claim.

 

Please return your completed Claim Form no later than December 19, 2025. Should you have any questions regarding your eligibility, please contact your AFSCME representative.
