California State Preschool Program (CSPP)
California State Preschool Programs are funded through the State of California in cooperation with the ABC Unified School District. Programs are designed to meet the needs of preschool children ages three to four years old (by September 1st of the current year) from low-income families as well as children with diagnosed disabilities that meet the income requirements. In an effort to provide high quality preschool programs the California Department of Education and the Office of Child Development establish the guidelines for service eligibility.
To determine if a family meets the guidelines to participate in a program the following documents must be presented to staff for review:
- One month's proof of income (check stubs, child support, CalWorks statement, etc.)
- Proof of residency in the form of a utility bill (gas, electric, water, and trash)
- Birth certificates/records for applicant and all other children in the same family
- Immunization record
- Child’s Medical Insurance Card
State Preschool programs are currently in operation at three elementary schools and the Artesia Children's Center within the ABC Unified School District. Children attend classes for 3 hours a day either in an AM or PM session Monday - Friday.
