E.X.T.R.A. (Expanded Time to Raise Achievement)
The EXTRA After-school Program is located at Elementary and Middle Schools within the ABC Unified School District. The EXTRA program is funded by the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Grant from the state of California. ABCUSD partners with Inspiring Caring Exciting and Stimulating Education (ICES) and the YMCA of Greater Long Beach to provide rich and engaging programs.
The goal of EXTRA is to positively impact student achievement by integrating standards-based instruction with creative after-school programming that ensures continuous quality improvement. Activities and services are age and developmentally appropriate and support the cultural, linguistic, economic, and other special needs of the children and families being served.

In response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), ABC Unified School District continues to make the health and safety of students, staff, families, and community members our first priority. While we are making plans for the school year 2020-21, please note that the start date for ASES/EXTRA is pending school re-opening dates and State funding. Upon school reopening, the ASES/EXTRA program will adhere to the precautions recommended by the state, county, and public health agencies to prevent or contain COVID-19 from spreading at our schools.
