California Department of Education Names Four ABC Unified Schools as Distinguished Schools

Each year, the California Department of Education names its California Distinguished Schools. This year, the ABC Unified School District has four schools named California Distinguished Schools. Congratulations to Cerritos High School, Gahr High School, Tetzlaff Middle School, and Whitney High School.

“We are very proud of these schools, and I thank the students, families, teachers, and staff for working so hard,” said Board President Mrs. Sophia Tse. “We have amazing schools doing amazing things, and this is wonderful.”

The four ABCUSD schools are part of 293 middle and high schools named to this year's prestigious list of schools. The California Department of Education uses multiple measures to identify eligible schools based on their performance on the California School Dashboard. Specifically, schools were selected by analyzing data reported through the 2023 Dashboard, focusing on demonstrating excellence and growth in academic achievement and ensuring a positive school climate.
