The ABC Unified School District Board of Education has appointed Mrs. Jean McHatton as the new Trustee for Area 5. Mrs. McHatton fills the vacancy left by former Board Member Mrs. Sophia Tse, who was elected to the Cerritos City Council earlier this year.
After interviewing seven qualified candidates during a Special Board Meeting on April 26, 2025, the Board selected Mrs. McHatton, a longtime educator with deep ties to the community. Her children and grandchildren have attended ABCUSD schools, and she brings extensive experience as a teacher, administrator, and coach for future educators.
Mrs. McHatton’s term will run through December 2026.
