Two ABC Schools Selected for National Blue Ribbon

Two ABCUSD schools have been selected for the 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. They include Gonsalves Elementary School and Leal Elementary School in Cerritos. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.

Measure BB Next Steps Announced

The ABC Unified School District Board of Education attended a special meeting on Saturday, September 7, 2019. This meeting included a presentation by Generation Ready about creating Culturally Proficient Schools as well as a presentation by Toan Nguyen, Assistant Superintendent – Business Services, and Ryan Carter, Bond Program Manager, about the next steps in implementing the Measure BB bond.

Public Hearing - Instructional Materials Compliance

A Public Hearing will be held at the ABC Unified School District Office on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. as part of the School Board meeting. The location of the Public Hearing is in the Boardroom at 16700 Norwalk Boulevard, Cerritos, California. The Public Hearing is held in compliance with State guidelines to determine the adequacy of instructional materials in the District.

New Visitor Management System Coming to ABCUSD Schools

ABC Unified School District campuses will soon be using a new computerized Visitor Management System, adding another layer of security to local schools. Visitors will now have to present any government-issued picture ID to enter school grounds.

Bid for ABC Unified School District Bond Lower than Predicted

On Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. the investment community purchased the first round of ABC bonds in the amount of $64,500,000. Due to the size of the bond and the District’s stellar credit rating, some of the most significant names in finance were focused on this bid opportunity.

ABC Proposed 2017-20 Local Control Accountability Plan - Year Three

Prior to submitting the 2017-20 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) - Year Three to the Board for approval, the public has the opportunity to review and submit written comments regarding specific actions/services and expenditures in the LCAP. The proposed 2017-20 LCAP - Year Three is available for review.

Comments may be submitted to the Superintendent's Office on the feedback form.

California Positive Outlier

CalSchoolNews Update - A New Study Has Identified 156 School Districts "Beating the Odds for Student Achievement." The Article on "California's Positive Outliers" study has listed ABC as one of the 50 larger school districts for "Beating the Odds." ABC is mentioned on page 8 of the Report tab. So exciting to hear this great news!
