Fedde Academy Retains California School to Watch Status

ABCUSD Middle School Retains “California School to Watch” Status

April 27, 2021 - Fedde International Studies Academy, in Hawaiian Gardens, has been re-designated as a 2021 “California School to Watch.” Fedde Academy was first recognized as a School to Watch in 2015 and was re-designated in 2018.

“We are so proud of the students and staff at Fedde Academy,” said Superintendent Dr. Mary Sieu. “To be re-designated twice as a School to Watch is an honor to be sure.”

The Schools to Watch designation recognizes middle schools that serve students exceptionally well. The California Department of Education, California League of Schools, and the California Middle Grades Alliance, in association with the National Forum, sponsor the California Schools to Watch program. To earn this designation, schools must complete a rigorous application process, including a site visit by middle grades experts. Schools are re-evaluated every three years to retain the Schools to Watch designation. All ABCUSD middle schools are Schools to Watch.

“This is an amazing accomplishment,” said Interim Principal Denise Macias. “It’s really a testament to Fedde’s dedicated staff, students, and families.”

During an online presentation on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, Fedde Academy was recognized along with other Southern California schools.
