The online application for Whitney Admissions is open from September 1-30, 2026. All applications must be submitted by September 30 at 4:30 p.m. Applications must be complete and meet all eligibility criteria and requirements to be considered valid. Late or incomplete applications, or applications that do not meet the required criteria, will not be accepted. 

Students in the following groups are required to submit an application to be considered for Whitney admission. 

  • Group 3 - Any ABC 5th or 6th grade resident student who attends a private school, other public school, or homeschool
  • Group 4 - Student of a permanent ABC USD employee (Current 5th & 6th grade only)
  • Group 5 - Any 5th-11th grade non-resident, out-of-district student who is either on an inter-district permit (minimum of 2 consecutive years) or new to ABC USD (does not attend an ABC school or attends ABC on an inter-district permit for the first year)
  • Current 7th-11th grade - ABC resident student who attends an ABC USD middle or high school or a private school, other public school, or homeschool

RESIDENT 5th & 6th Graders (Groups 1 & 2) do NOT need to apply. 

 

IMPORTANT: You MUST have a Google (Gmail) account and be signed in to complete the application and upload documents.

 

Please refer to the Whitney Admissions Online Application Guide for a complete list of the required documents that must be uploaded with your application. A How-to Guide is also available with step-by-step instructions to help parents/guardians prepare and upload the required documents.


Submitting this application does not guarantee an invitation to take the Whitney assessments. Once applications have been verified and approved, parents will be notified via email about testing dates, times, and locations. Email notifications will go out no later than the third week of October


The assessment dates are listed below for your reference.


  • September 30 (Wednesday) - All 5th and 6th grade students take the District Writing Assessment (ABC resident students & non-resident students who attend an ABC school) 
  • November 2-3 (Monday & Tuesday, during the school day) - All 6th grade students (Groups 1 & 2) and 6th grade students on an inter-district permit currently attending an ABC USD elementary school (Group 5) *Burbank & Niemes will test on November 9-10 due to camp.
  • November 4-5 (Wednesday & Thursday, during the school day) - All 5th grade students (Groups 1 & 2) and 5th grade students on an inter-district permit currently attending an ABC USD elementary school (Group 5) 
  • November 14 (Saturday, 8 am - 4 pm) - All Non-resident, out-of-district 5th-11th grade students new to ABC USD who do not attend an ABC school (Group 5) 
  • November 17, 18, 19 (Tuesday-Thursday, after school) - All ABC resident students, 5th-11th grades, who attend a private school, other public school, or homeschool, non-resident children of permanent ABC employees (Groups 3 & 4),  AND current students who attend an ABC middle school or high school - resident and inter-district permit students.

Update (8/14/26)

 

The revised Board Policy for Whitney Admissions has been updated and is now available online. Updated FAQs for ABC Resident Students (Groups 1-4) and separate FAQs for Out-of-District, Non-Resident students (Group 5) are also posted. In addition, an application checklist for Group 5 applicants is also now available. Please note that the FAQs may be updated periodically as additional information becomes available.

 

The application window for 2027-2028 Whitney High School admissions will open on September 1, 2026 and close on September 30, 2026. The link to the applications will be available online on this page at 8:00 am on September 1st.

 

Please see below for an overview of student groups:

 

  • Groups 1 & 2 - ABC resident students in 5th & 6th grade
  • Group 3 - ABC resident students in 5th-6th grade who attend a private school or other public/home school
  • Group 4 - 5th & 6th grade students who are children of permanent ABC employees
  • ABC resident students in 7th-11th grades do not have a group number but can apply for admissions. The number of seats varies each year depending on Whitney's openings in specific grade levels for the next school year.
  • Group 5 - Non-resident and out-of-district students (Students who have been enrolled in ABC USD on an interdistrict permit for a minimum of TWO consecutive years and students who are new to ABC USD or on an interdistrict permit for less than 2 years.)
