ABCUSD High Schools Make the Grade - According to U.S. News & World Reports

U.S. News & World Reports has published its 2023-2024 Best High Schools rankings, and ABC Unified School District high schools were ranked among the best in the state and nation.

ABCUSD School Board Appoints New Member to Fill Vacancy

July 1, 2023 - The ABC Unified School District Board of Education has appointed Mr. Franciso Noyola as the Board Member for Trustee Area 7. Mr. Noyola will serve out the remaining term left vacant by former Board Member Dr. Christopher Apodaca, who resigned in May. The Board interviewed six candidates who submitted completed applications before the deadline of June 23, 2023.

Public Hearing - Instructional Materials Compliance

A Public Hearing will be held at the ABC Unified School District Office on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. as part of the School Board meeting. The location of the Public Hearing is in the Boardroom at 16700 Norwalk Boulevard, Cerritos, California. The Public Hearing is held in compliance with State guidelines to determine the adequacy of instructional materials in the District.

Four ABCUSD Schools Named 2023 California Distinguished Schools

The California Department of Education announced that it is recognizing four schools in the ABC Unified School District as 2023 California Distinguished Schools. This program recognizes schools across the state for their work on closing the achievement gap and achieving exceptional student performance.

Updated Reopening Planning

On February 1, 2021, the ABC Unified School District applied for reopening under Governor Newsom's Safe Schools for All plan. Both the application and safety plans are attached. It's important to note two elements for reopening:

1. Countywide new cases must be at or less than 25 per 100,000, and
2. The Governor's Safe Schools for All plan has yet to be approved by the Legislature.
