Title VI
Fact: The US dept of education’s Civil Rights data collection reports that in the 2020-21 school year Students reported more than 42,500 allegations of harassment and bullying on the basis of race, sex, disability status, national origin, or religion in 2020-21. Forty percent on the basis of sex, 19 percent concerned sexual orientation, and almost 30 percent of were based on race.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects people from discrimination based on race, color, national origin or language in programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance (eg. school districts)
Title VI states: “No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
ABCUSD students of all genders who are experiencing any form of abuse, harassment, (online) bullying or discrimination based on race, color, or national origin are protected under the Title VI law.
