Elliott Elementary School

Welcome to Elliott Elementary School!

William F. Elliott Elementary is a 2020 California Distinguished School, and also earned this prestigious award in 2018, 2014  and 2006. Elliott was designated a California Gold Ribbon School in 2016 and a 2016 Title I Academic Achieving School Award winner.

Elliott’s scores on the new California Dashboard and Five by Five reports are also strong in both English Language Arts and Mathematics and we are above the state standard in both areas. This is the product of our teachers’ and our communities’ dedication to continuous improvement in student achievement. In striving for excellence, our students learn and achieve success.

Elliott’s core belief is focusing on the whole child. We pride ourselves on maintaining a balance between academic, social, and emotional growth. With learning being our top priority, Elliott students participate in a rigorous and challenging standards-based curriculum supplemented by our Global Studies units. Students have many opportunities for success with the implementation of our 1st - 6th grade 1:1 Chromebook Technology Integration Project and iPads and chromebooks for kindergarteners. Elliott provides leveled intervention, GATE, multicultural music, P.E., K - 6th grade technology instruction, Student Council, Skill Streaming, track team, music instruction and band.

Elliott is a gold medal winner for implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions), a system in which students approach behavior with a positive outlook and emphasize our three core values: Elliott students are Respectful, Kind, and Responsible.

All Elliott students perform at least twice a year in our school-wide musical productions led by Elliott’s music teacher.  Students participate in the chorus, vocal and/or instrumental solos, dance, and instrumental groups with a multicultural theme. Many of the students sing in different languages during the performances. Our band, directed by Mr. Robert Grishkoff, performs concerts at least twice a year. The highlight of the year is the Gahr Area Band Concert in May.

Cultures are celebrated throughout the year at Elliott. At our International Festival in spring we encourage our students to wear clothing representing their heritage. We also share information about all of the cultures at Elliott in Cultural Awareness Day.

Open House is a “Passport to the World” with students sharing the art, traditions, daily life, history, geography, and unique animals of their Global Address country with their families. Each classroom is transformed to reflect another country and the students “tour” with their parents. Parents and community members are invited to tour from continent to continent, as they move around the school. Parents and family are encouraged to participate in their child’s education. You can become involved as classroom volunteers, joining the PTA, becoming members of our School Site Council, becoming a member of the Panther Patrol by volunteering just one day per year, by providing donations, or helping at Elliott events.
