Welcome to a fabulous 2017 – 2018 academic school year! I hope you had a restful summer and are ready to learn!
Our staff and I are excited to share wonderful news with you!
We are now offering a Dual Language Immersion program! Our DLI program (Spanish) is a 90/10 model that begins in TK/K and will continue through 6th grade. Furgeson’s Dual Language Immersion Program promotes students to become Bilingual, Biliterate, and promotes Multicultural Awareness. Our program aligns to the rigorous California State Common Core Standards. Students who participate in the DLI program will get an opportunity to earn a Bilingual Service and Participation Award by the end of 6th grade.
Furgeson has gone AVID! This year we will focus on student organization and school climate to encourage and prepare our students to become college and career ready. Using AVID methods, students will obtain tools and strategies that will help them through out their educational career.
I am also proud to say that Furgeson Elementary has received a Silver PBIS Implementation Award from the California PBIS Coalition. Our PBIS component focuses on providing a positive learning environment for all of our students.
Furgeson Elementary has a new PTA, Venn W. Furgeson PTA! Our PTA is growing strong and has many projects to support positive school climate and support our rigorous academic programs at Furgeson.
As you can see, we have obtained many accomplishments and have a busy year ahead of us. In order to have a successful year, we are going to need all of your support! With your support, we will ensure our Patriots are college and career ready. I am sure we are going to have another successful year.
